Guiding You to Real Solutions

So Who Is This Tony Carter Chap?

There is so much of ‘Dave’ in Tony. It is why I am working with those that relate to ‘Dave’. When I say I have been there or I feel that, you can be sure that this is my life which means I get it, I get you.

Me, You ... and 'Dave'.

I am a fully trained ADHD coach which means that along with coaching and helping clients with life decisions, accountability, relationships, careers and much more, I am also trained to work with those that have ADHD traits, whether diagnosed or not, with their way of looking at the world with their Neurodivergent brain.

As someone that had a late diagnosis of ADHD at 54, I have first hand experience of how having a brain that works in a different way to a neuro typical brain can be hard. It is hard because society works for a neurotypical brain, this can cause some issues when we try to fit in or just don’t realise that our brain is different.

I am also trained as a mental Health First Aider, that helps me support those that feel their mental health may not be as good as it could be.

What I am not is a therapist, councellor, mental health nurse or doctor. These are very important roles for which I am not trained and if I feel that someone needs the support other than coaching I will refer them and signpost them to the services that are best suited.

My role as a coach is to help people understand where they are at, let them be heard, and help them to find the way forward and future that they want with open and honest conversations, tools and goal setting.

Because of my experiences and struggles both before and after my diagnosis, I have realised that there are many people that are trying to get on with life while feeling that maybe they are a little bit different, perhaps that they don’t always fit in, and because of this their mental health can suffer a bit. They don’t want to start asking for help or to be diagnosed with something, but they would like to maybe understand a bit more about themselves and see if they can find a different path that suits them more.

I feel that ‘Dave’ is a good example of that person and am here to help anybody, male or female, that find they may relate to ‘Dave’ and some of the struggles that he has.

Other than my certification for training as an ADHD coach and MHFA I do not have a clutch of qualifications. I don’t have any degrees. What I do have is over 40 years experience of living a life with mental health struggles as I knew something was different, and four years experience of living with and dealing with ADHD along with OCD. I also the experience of bringing up a boy with undiagnosed ADHD, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia that has turned in to a fine young man.

This experience means that I have not learnt about ADHD works from a text book or lectures. I have not been taught about the different ways that people can be affected or how they struggle in a classroom. I understand it, have experienced it and deal with it every day.

The good days, the bad days, and the days that just make no sense.

If you want to know more about my story I have a page where I go in to more detail HERE. It will not show you more about why I am a coach and why I feel I am in a good position to help people that relate to ‘Dave’, but may resonate and help you to realise that even when things feel difficult or even worse, there is a way through it.

If you would like to know more about ‘Dave’, me, how I may be able to help, how I still struggle, or anything else, give me a call on 07973 863820 or drop me a message and I will get back to you. I love to talk.
